Hepatic Vascular Hamartoma in a 13 Years Old Cat

It is a rare proliferative vascular disorder, presently categorized into vascular malformation, borderline neoplastic lesions . They can arise in various organs and are considered lesions halfway between a vascular malformation and a neoplasm

Surgery

The clinical signs included lethargy, mild dyspnea, pale mucous membranes, and abdominal distension intense pain during palpation

Abdominal ultrasonographic examination revealed atrophic hepatic parenchyma adjacent to the cyst with regular boundaries and heterogeneous echogenicity and multiple (2) anechoic cystic masses that occupied nearly half of the abdomen: one near the caudate lobe

Following the stabilization the recommendation was surgical excision of the hepatic masses..

Intraoperative atrophied lobe was excised with the larger cyst,

for the other cyst marsupialization was done

Partial lobectomy was done due to ischemic changes
